Wescot contacting partner

Hello,
A credit card of mine has unfortunately been passed to Wescot collections.
A credit card of mine has unfortunately been passed to Wescot collections.
They have sent me texts and emails, which I have responded to.
This week they also sent two texts to my partner’s phone. My partner isn’t on the account; the credit card is solely mine.
I don’t know how they have got my partner’s number. They sent texts saying they were trying to contact me.
This doesn’t feel right. We aren’t married and so don’t have a shared name, although we are at the same address.
Is this “against the rules”? I’d be interested to know what the consequences may be.

I can't see how it's against any rules, your partner can simply ignore them if they wish. It certainly wouldn't invalidate any genuine claim they have for what you owe.1

Thank you. It just seems odd that they can go after someone who doesn’t have the debt.0

As long as all they have said is that they are trying to contact you I don't think there is an issue legally. If they have said we are trying to contact xyz over a debt that would potentially be very different. Your partner should just ignore any contact from them. How long was there between you contacting them and your partner receiving the e-mail?1

Balance as at 01/09/23 = £115,000.00 Balance as at 31/12/23 = £112,000.00

I would have though it was a data protection breach personally if your partner is not involved with the debt.1

Wescott are just a collection company, they do not own the debts they manage, you can just ignore them and nothing will happen.
With regard to the number, its likely you provided it as a contact number at some point in the past, Wescott just get the information sent to them from the original creditor, they don`t actively try to trace you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
