Hello,

I'm a research student at Swansea Uni, currently running a study on policy perceptions including congestion charging. I thought this might be interesting to budget-conscious users of this forum. Take part by scanning the QR code below:

Thanks!

You'll get more response if you add a link.
Very few people are going to scan a random QR code off a forum, or sit and transcribe that long url to do you a favour.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

I completed it, the last parts were rather complex.

"The cost of production & consumption of fossil fuels has been kept artificially low thanks to government subsidies. Therefore, some governments are proposing to cut fossil fuel subsidies which will increase the prices of fuel and household energy. The budget saved will be reinvested in improving public services around the country"

I don't think many will agree that vehicle fuel is kept artificially low, not with roughly 70% taxation. You seem to have an issue with bias, perhaps that is yours?
We are aware of 'green' subsidies

    AI Overview
The UK does not directly subsidize oil and gas production, but it does offer tax relief for investment in the industry. The UK has committed to phasing out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies by the end of 2025.
    Explanation
    • The UK government has pledged to support international efforts to eliminate fossil fuel subsidies.
The UK's Subsidy Control Act 2022 defines subsidies as measures that reduce the price of fossil fuels below market prices. The UK government has offered tax relief for investment in oil and gas production, including an Investment Allowance and a First Year Capital Allowance. The UK government has also signed Decommissioning Relief Deeds, which guarantee future tax relief for oil and gas companies.

    Hello,

    Thank you for taking part!

Again, frustratingly I can't post links. But a recent article, "How much in subsidies do fossil fuels receive" in Our World in Data by Dr. Hannah Ritchie gives factual information on this.

Here is the link, but its in $$ so it's worldwide. It does mention the UK, but not with any real statistics.
In the UK they give companies tax breaks, which is not a subsidy.

I wouldn't say that a survey by a political party was an unbiased survey.
