I was wondering if anyone has any advice - I have checked my credit report today as I had an email alert from Credit Karma. We applied for a mortgage with Halifax in March 2024 but they declined as they wouldn't accept us moving from a joint mortgage to a sole mortgage in my name as they said in order to get the mortgage offered my husband would have to move out!!

Anyway - we remortgaged with another bank but Halifax have now carried out a hard search for a mortgage application in my name on 18/02/25. I have not applied for a mortgage with them as we are now 1 year into a 5 year fix. Why would they carry out a hard search without my permission and if I haven't applied for anything?

I have contacted Halifax and am awaiting their reply.
