Update: 

I can't get through to pay voluntary. Just on hold for ages and the call automatically cuts out on my mobile after 1 hour of waiting.

Nightmare! Might even have to ask someone in the uk to call up for me.

They're making it as difficult as possible to pay them money

Have you sent form CF83 yet? You cannot be considered for Class 2 unless you send that form.  And as soon as HMRC or DWP clock that you want to pay for years when you are not resident they will tell you to send that form.

Yes i sent the form. I can expect a reply by July by post apparently.

Finally got through to a human by ringing the line 1st thing this morning at 8am.

Topped up a couple of amnesty years and the cheap year. Fairly pleasant HMRC bloke again. 

He gave me the total amount, the bank details and a ref number to use. Says the topped up years should show on government gateway within 8 weeks. He also confirmed they had receipt of my CF38 online form on my account.

He said the lines are currently very busy with people wanting to top up before the deadline.

There's the end of that little saga.

Just thought i'd update here for info of others considering doing the process.

The voluntary years i topped up are showing in goverment gateway today. So it took 3 days for me rather than the 8 weeks they said on the phone.

My pension summary now looks like this...



and a topped up year now showing

Great that you got sorted in double-quick time but as you may have read elsewhere on the forum, it may now be helpful for anyone reading your thread from now until 5.April 2025 to use the deadline clock-stop backlog workaround online callback request form at https://secure.dwp.gov.uk/request-a-call-back-to-pay-voluntary-national-insurance-contributions/contact-form.  It is recommended to keep a screenshot including the date.

There is in fact now a fairly similar form specifically for enquiries to the International Pension Centre - for those of us abroad, might be worth completing both in order to be sure of logging communication in the right place before the deadline.  IPC's is here: https://secure.dwp.gov.uk/contact-the-international-pension-centre/contact-form
