Hi,

I am in the process of purchasing a house with my partner. I wanted to buy my half outright and I was hoping to use a savings pot but it has a 95 day notice period which brings us to May and I need the money by 24th March.

Is it possible to take out a short-term loan for £18k?

yes, but if you are applying for a mortgage it could impact your application.

what is the penalty if you take the money early?

Could you do money transfers to that amount on your credit cards?  Ridiculous rate of interest unless there's a 0% offer going of course.
