Cheap Glasses offer - beware of Glasses Direct

Hi, I took advantage of Martin's recent offer - two pairs of 'designer' glasses and lenses for £25 delivered with Glasses Direct.
They are scamming people. I selected the free lenses to get the £25 offer. My prescription is light, 1.5 and 1.25. They keep emailing saying I need the gold lenses (anti reflection and anti scratch coating etc) and must pay an extra £16 for these.
I reply saying to cancel the order and they do nothing. They are holding onto my money. BEWARE of Glasses Direct

I've bought several pairs of glasses from this company over several years and haven't had any bad experiences at all with them. My transactions have been very straightforward each time. The only time they have contacted me after I have made an order has been to request a scan of my prescription.0

If you went for rimless - with such weak prescriptions, maybe you needed told gold lenses because they're tougher/more robust ?0

I have had the very same problem with glasses direct. They do not honour the contract putting numerous obstacles in the way. They have cond MSE as a cheap advertising campaign and you should be taking action.2

Had a nightmare with them recently, they delivered one pair but not the other. Eventually they admitted that they weren't going to send them. Offered less than half the money back, after being told that my account would not be billed until dispatch, which turned out to be a lie. Two calls to customer support, who were in no hurry to get it resolved, I got the sense they were getting pid by the minute. I have ordered from Glasses Direct in the past with no problem but this has been awful. Such a shame as the glasses that did arrive were nice, but the only way forward that make sense was to cancel the order. I wasn't allowed to talk to a manager or escalate the complaint. They really do not care and would have just kept my money despite having no intention of sending my second pair.0

The link has a * next to it meaning MSE is being paid for having the link, MSE made circa £48m in revenue from such links in their last published accounts. Having worked with prior brands promoted by MSE they typically want above the standard rate for such advertising so it's actually an expensive advertising campaign.0
