Anyone know of a way of getting alerts when the tube is either delayed or not running?

Looking for a way of getting alerts to my phone when the tube isn't running, rather than having to check the TFL status page every time I leave. It seems to have become more of a common occurrence that my overground line isn't running. Any help appreciated!

  • Yeah, I've tried a few. Recently been using "London Underground Alerter" which seems to work well and the alerts  come through faster than CityMapper (might just be my phone, but they seem to be about 10 minutes late sometimes).
  • i just just have the ‘tube map’ app downloaded and set it to notify me of issues with the lines I typically use. Maybe that’s the app you feel isn’t working for you, but it’s been great for me…

Oh I was actually talking about CityMapper, which seems to be very sporadic with its alerts. I have a tube map app, but it pops up with an ad every 3 seconds, so I'm guessing I have the wrong one!
  • Yes that's the one I use. you don't need an app

I find "TFL Go" is a good app (from TFL, no ads) for a pretty simple map and status interface. Citymapoer is also good for the alerts.
  • This is the one I use. It does have ads, but the notifications come through fine once set up

It's possible to buy working replica train/tube station departure boards for use at home.

Not cheap. Some versions can be configured for buses (may not cover all areas of UK)

If you have diverse transport options nearby then you might need more than one replica display to have departures for all the options at a glance (limited/space and configurability for the display).

Example supplier: https://ukdepartureboards.co.uk/  (I think there are others).

Or just stick a cheap tablet on the wall near your front door with links to service status pages, departure screens, and independent sites like lvf, realtimetrains, tubemap, busmap/bustimes, etc.
