Hi I currently have an active pension and one that has been recently been deferred as my role has changed due to a restructure and I have received a new contract for that role and I declined the aggregation and chose to separate my 2 pensions. They are both with the local council and I am wanting to claim my deferred pension but the pension team said I cannot as I still work for the same employer. I have looked online and all information is saying that I can claim my deferred pension as I am not actively paying into it and when I log into my pension is tells me I can claim my deferred pension if I am aged between 55 and 75 from now and the amount of the 25% I can claim so I don't understand why our pension Team are telling me i cannot claim it. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

Same job, but essentially restructured on a lower salary? If so, then the information you have been given is correct.
Similarly, just in case someone suggests it, if you were to opt out of the LGPS but carry on working, you wouldn't be able to access your deferred pension(s) until you had left your job.1 -

A member who has not attained normal pension age but who has attained the age of 55 or over, may elect to receive immediate payment of a retirement pension in relation to an employment if that member is not an employee in local government service in that employment
