For most companies you can go to their website, look at the bottom and there is normally a link for "Privacy Policy" and in there will be instructions on how you do a SAR request. Many firms have an online form but others you need to email or write to them.
They will often ask for proof of ID, some do this upfront when you make the request, others wait until it's been setup and then ask for it. Some companies my present other options to you other than doing a SAR but you probably need to persist through and find the SAR request process.
For Experian for example you use https://www.dsardatacapture.experian.co.uk/0 -
CliveOfIndia said:I'm not sure whether you'd actually have a claim for irresponsible lending. Any time a credit card has offered to increase my limit, the letter has always said I can reject the increase if i wish, simply by calling them or going online.Additionally, just because you have a certain credit limit, no-one is compelling you to use it. With any credit card, the customer must bear an element of responsibility in not using it to buy things they can't afford. It doesn't matter whether the limit is £500 or £50,000 - if you can't afford to buy something, you shouldn't buy it.
In my case i managed to get statements from the Halifax app which went back 10 years and I had a credit report which went back to the year in question.0 -
Thanks for your replies @DullGreyGuy and @Rob5342
Initially I thought my online banking would go back that far but it only goes back 7 years unfortunately.
The FOS got back to me today and said as it's now with a DCA the relationship has broken down with the creditor and they would no longer be able to pursue it but I could make a complaint about the DCA (which is PRA) if they are regulated. So much red tape.0 -
That doesn't make much sense. Barclaycard made the lending decision so you can only complain to them about it, it's nothing to do with PRA. You won't be able to win a complaint without evidence but being sold to a DCA shouldn't affect anything.

I still need the evidence @rob5342 but the lady dealing with my complaint said as it's now with a DCA I wouldn't be able to bring the complaint against Barclaycard. I don't feel this makes sense either. I'll see whether I can get the evidence or not and take it from there.0
