Asda gift card through carers uk

I have power of attorney for mom.
I go shopping at Asda for mom, I use a debit card Halifax gave me for her reward account.
found out carers uk give Asda gift cards at a discount so can save on shopping
can I buy these, top them up and use their card instead and
a) use top up to help qualify her towards the £500 monthly spend on the card for her £5 reward
b) would Asda gift card be ok in my name as I do shopping or should I buy it and put card in moms name as a gift? It would be me doing shopping, she’s in her 80’s diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Gift cards aren't in anyone's name.
Treat them as you would cash, lose it and the money is likely gone.1 -

But to answer your question.Gift cards don’t have names on them.I’m sure you already know this but just a heads up in case xWhen POA kicks in, it’s better to open a seperate bank if you are using any of your money and then recouping from your mum as every penny needs to be accounted for.Keep all receipts and a book with it all in written down with explanations even if it is on your mums Halifax card. You can’t just draw out £500 for example and say it’s for groceries.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. She always paid for shopping that’s why, and have records going back before she was diagnosed to show that. In other areas mom would not contribute e.g. I pay the mortgage and she lives rent free with me. Also dad and I split a lot of the other bills, dad sadly passed away just before Christmas so will be revisiting this too with any of the larger bills. I am the only son so inherit any money she has anyway eventually, assuming I out live mom. Additionally I had to give up a well paid job to look after mom 24/7 so not easy moving to just get £320 every 4 weeks carers allowance. Luckily my pension becomes available later this year to help us both.0

I was just trying to help as I had all the hassle with my grandad last year. I was told that every penny had to be accounted for under the lpa. I wanted to release a little bit of his money before Christmas to help us a bit but couldn’t as it wasn’t in his best interest and would have benefited me even though I knew he dying. All his money was going straight to me too but as soon as he passed, the lpa dies with them and bank account gets frozen until they have received death certificate & will so I had his bills to pay which I had to keep going into the bank for them to pay them.Good luck xI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Just trying to get across my point, mom will always have roof over her head, even if I was to die first, though now the risk is changes planned 4/27 budget, she would have more money to last her a lifetime and have carer live in 24/7 though cousins would have to sort that with the trust I set up. Everything I have done is in her best interests, she gets a great deal here. I love her and will see she is looked after here by me as long as I can, she told me she don’t want to go in a home and so be it.1
