Why have I been credited tax in my PAYE payslip?
In my last payslip, I received a £431 negative amount in the tax column. My earnings were £140 and my YTD earnings at the bottom of the same payslip were £6,417.46 (I have had one other job in this tax year). I will be under the threshold for paying tax on my income this financial year.
Can anyone help explain this please?
In previous years I would have received a cheque from HMRC around July if I had overpaid tax. Does it now get credited back on each payslip?

If you had one job earlier in this tax year and now just have the one job that you earned £140 from in the last pay period then it is possible HMRC have sent details of your previous earnings (and tax deducted) to your current employer and they can then use that information to see if you are due a refund when calculating your wages.MoneySavingMouse said:In my last payslip, I received a £431 negative amount in the tax column.
