Remortgage solicitor disaster

We’ve recently remortgaged and instructed our solicitor to pay off a loan and couple of credit cards.
I’ve been checking my accounts and just felt uneasy on Friday so I asked them to send me a breakdown of what they’ve paid. They’ve only put a wrong digit in two of the accounts.
I am frantic, it accumulates to £20,000.
What will happen now please? The solicitor is closed until Monday and I’m going to be pulling my hair out until then. This isn’t the first time they’ve messed up either, so a huge complaint is going their way.

Can anybody ease my mind please?

Unfortunately not. You'll have to wait to speak to them.
Was there any reason you asked them to make the payment direct as I would have got them to send the money to me and then paid to the loan and credit cards myself?

The credit card companies are not going to run off to Las Vegas with your money!
You will get everything back, probably in about ten days.

Check that you gave them the right account details.
If you did, its on them dont worry.
If you didnt, then its a bit trickier.
Ultimately the loan/card companies will either need to return the money or assign it to the correct account. When I worked for RBS, it could either be pretty quick if the owner of the account it hit was alright about it or I think a month if not as we had to give them 28-30 days to acknowledge the issue before we took the money back. If they withdrew the money it could be even longer. But that was a while ago so things could have changed.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. So you still have all the money you should, just some of it is in the wrong accounts? If that’s cost you interest then you could claim for that.0

Did you provide them with the correct information?0
