IHT exemption - confusion over regular gifts of surplus income

The value of your estate is well below the level above which inheritance applies. There is no gift tax in the U.K.hoogie_doogie said:Our estate is approximately £500000. I really want to know if I can pay for our child’s h doors and windows at her home.
Give away as much as you like and keep a record (for transferable rate band purposes). There are no tax implications at all.0 -
Of course you can. With an estate of only £500,000, you are well under any issues related to IHT ( on death) now or the foreseeable future, unless you have a massive lottery win which pushes your joint estate well north of £1 million.hoogie_doogie said:Our estate is approximately £500000. In short and given the current level of your estate, give away whatever you can comfortably afford. Your children will be grateful and you will also have helped give a small boost to the local economy.0
