                    Hi all,
I have two jobs with a university. My main job is full time (1.0 FTE) and I can work from home or in the office. I choose hybrid and work from the office twice a week.
My second job is 0.3 FTE as an Associate Lecturer. The contract for this role says that this is a home-based position. Because I already work full-time, I have to conduct my AL role at evenings and weekends and have no choice but to conduct this role from home. My hours vary, but I work most weeks of the year and usually at least 8 hours per week on the weeks I do work in this role.
I am fully aware that I cannot claim tax relief for my main job because I choose to work from home some of the time, however as my contract says that I have to work from home for my second role, am I eligible to make a claim for tax relief for working from home?
A second, related question. If I am eligible to claim, how should I do this via the PAYE form? I had a look at the form yesterday but I've no idea what to put when you click 'Yes' for 'Do you want to claim tax relief on expenses from using your home as an office?' then it asks you to state the 'amount paid by you' and 'amount repaid to you by your employer'. The amount repaid by my employer is zero, but I have no idea what to put in the first box? Am I meant to calculate £6 per week multiplied by the number of weeks I work in a year?
Thank you in advance for any replies!

If you are not on self-assessment then this is the link to claim (maybe it is the form you already have?).

Hiya yes that's the form I've been looking at. I'm just not 100% sure if I'm eligible to claim for my second job which is fully at home due to my main job with the same employer, and if I am eligible how I'm meant to fill in the formTheGreenFrog said:If you are not on self-assessment then this is the link to claim (maybe it is the form you already have?).

I would think that you are eligible, although whether it is worth you trying for more than the relief on £6 per week is fact dependent. There is further info in the HMRC internal manual: https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/employment-income-manual/eim32815lagotozi said:

In that case I'll pop in a claim for the basic £6 a week as that's the simplest way to do it. Really appreciate you sending that link, some useful information in there! 0
