Don't find his presentation style particularly good. Talks far too fast and only provides limited information.
I find it quite 'shouty' and not great to listen to.
That's what we call him in the Scrounger household when he's on TV!

To be fair it's a no win situation, he's got 45ish minutes and a shed load of information to impart, so some things have to fall by the wayside. He's got other channels (podcast, email etc) but this is the one that reaches the widest audience.

so do you cut out important stuff that people might need to hear, or do you cram it all in and risk mistakes when you're delivering at 150 words per minute? It's a balancing act, sometimes he gets it right. Last night wasn't one of those times.

incidentally I have no issues with his general style, but then I used to work on a city trading floor so I'm probably not bothered by shoutyness  :D

Yes, there is a lot of shouting. Puts my wife right off.

'Common folk' find his stuff engaging and highly beneficial. A lot of people operate from a very low level of financial knowledge. e.g. I can imagine many didn't even know the importance of paying a credit card off "IN FULL" before maybe some other debts. Many others never switch energy providers and how many of our parents have always been with BT?
I think they can be forgiven for misrepresenting the previous years allowances on pensions and I doubt the vast majority of viewers are operating in that world, or rushed off in an attempt to take erroneous action. Anyone in that world will be a little more savvy and coming to places like here and the internet to get detailed information.

Maybe his team who monitor the discussions will feedback and he will issue a correction on the next episode.

The problem is that you get people thinking they can put say, a £50k  inheritance into their pension, despite earning minimum wage , all because they’ve seen that bloke on telly say it, so it must be right.
I do think the current rules are grossly unfair and that anyone should be able to utilise the allowance, no matter how much they earn, instead of it only helping higher earners.

Anyone can utilise the allowance regardless of their earnings.

Lots of individuals in final salary schemes getting a promotion late in their career exceed the allowance, despite only earning maybe £30K or so.

It's a tax relief. So, it might be better to think of it as helping those that pay more tax, rather than those that are higher earners (even if those are the ones that pay more tax).

There will be nuances and exceptions, but, generally, higher earners do not benefit any more than lower earners who pay the same amount of tax.

I've never watched a full episode but from the snippets I have seen he would be better saying stuff less frequently but saying it better. The problem with TV personal finance content is that a lot of it will not be relevant to most of the viewers so he seems to rush through it hoping the episode will have at least something for everyone.

The truth is, the alternative guy is better. Broader topics and more educational.
    Who is the "alternative guy"?
