Apologies if this is common knowledge, but my pension starts on Feb 5th 2025, if I defer to after the April increase will I get the 4.1% or whatever it is increase? Multiple Government departments phone lines " Cannot advise me" the .Gov pages don't seem to say anything specific on this matter, and Google search nowt.
Connected question
I applied and set my pension start date via a phone call, can I now change that decision if it's a better choice? The lovely lady who took my application made now mention of whether or not that was possible.
Thank you

The State Pension? Teachers? Civil Service? LGPS? NHS?0 -
If it is 4.1% then must be the state pension, (public sector getting 1.7%) if you start payment in Feb you will get the 4.1% increase in April
I don't know if it is possible to change the date of starting - suspect not0 -
Apologies, I forgot some essential info. State pension and living outside of the UK, but not a country that has the beneficial pension agreement to not freeze a UK state pension.0

how many months at 4.1% will missing the 2 months make up for?
still not sure if you can amend the date0 -

Try contacting the International Pension Centre again https://www.gov.uk/international-pension-centre and check if you can amend the start date. If the answer is yes, ask them to confirm that you will receive the state pension at the rate which will be in force at the time your pension starts. Don't be fobbed off with 'can't advise you' - point out you are simply asking for information, not any sort of advice.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
Yes you will get the increase if you start your pension after the increase date. ( useful if your living abroad and your pension will be frozen )
Not sure about changing once you have already given the start date but would assume you can delay and get the increase providing you can contact someone to get it delayed.
