@vampirotoothus (great username btw) thank you. I know that was so obvious to everyone else, i just didnt think of it. This whole money saving thing is such a new way of thinking for me, I think it'll take a while to get my head around everything and think things through properly.

🤣 just don't order a takeaway just to get the boxes!

Good work on the shopping front - I know in the past it's been a downfall of mine because you never just get precisely what you "pop" in for and the little "on offer things" soon add up.

I hear you on the subscription front (mine was the gym) Short term pain for long term gain is what I keep telling myself!

Haha, i definitely wont be getting takeaways. I'm not actutually  a big takeaway fan, i much prefer to cook at home..hence the ridiculous food shopping bills.

I've decided to trial online shopping for February, with a limit of £100 a week. I've never consistently online shopped before, so it's something very new to me, but avoiding supermarkets altogether might be just what i need.

I'm still feeling really sad and disappointed about the subscriptions, but i think once i start seeing a dent in the debt that sadness will lessen...at least thats what I'm hoping!

You remind me of myself and I am learning new ways now that my bf has moved in and operates differently! And the reason I say that is that you clearly have a fully stocked freezer but still shop(ped) daily! Plus I think it's a great idea to buy UHT milk so that you don't have to go out just for that... but you bought 5 cartons! I say all of this as someone who gets very cagey when the fridge looks empty, but its actually just because we're buying what we need and eating everything that we buy!

Hopefully the pain of losing the subscriptions will help you in your debt busting as encouragement to get it gone so that you can re-subscribe! Sounds like you're making great steps and remember it is all a learning curve!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £6,450.00
Total paid off - £9,150.89 (58% paid off)
  • why not set a debt clearance target rather than a time period to reactivate the subscriptions?

Hi Twiggy, thanks for the reply.
You're right, this really is all a huge learning curve
Yes i think the pai of losing the subscriptions really is going to be my motivating factor when it comes to paying off my debt.

    @in_need_of_direction
Do you mean pay off a certain amount of debt and then reactivate the subscriptions?

    Morning everyone :)

I'm going to the salon to get my nails done today. This is the ONLY luxury that I've decided to keep in my budget. It only costs £20 a month and I'm happy with keeping it.

My last direct debit for the month left my bank account today, and due to my overspending on food this month, i had to transfer money from my small savings to cover it. But this will be the LAST time i have to do this.

I'm looking forward to starting a new month with my new way of thinking and paying off my debt, but also very hesitant and I have doubts that i can do it to be honest. But i hope i prove myself wrong.
  • That’s exactly what I meant. I’m all about motivation
