Is my part time salary correct?

Is my part time salary correct?

My salary was £27,273 for 37 hour week
I've reduced my hours to 22.5 hours
I figure that's 27,273 / 37 * 22.5 = 16584
HR say it's 27,273 x 0.6 (3/5 of a week) = 16363

What do your maths make it??

Looks like they think you're working 22.2 hours per week - 22 hours 12 minutes, whilst you're thinking it's 22 hours 30 minutes.

Yes you're right. Are they even allowed to do that? Might need a word with my line manager about reducing my hours

Did you get a revised contract when your hours were reduced, and if so what does it say (22.5 hours or a reduction from 5 to 3 days, which is indeed 22.2 hours)?
If you and your manager think you should be doing 22.5 hours then get him/her to correct it with HR. I assume you haven't simply cut back to working 3 days rather than 5, and that you're doing 22.5 hours over (probably) 5 days at 4.5 hours per day.

I have cut back to 3 days but specifically 22.5 hours (7.5 X3) which is detailed on my contract

    22.5  / 37.5 = 0.6

    3/5 = 0.6

the correct pro rata salary for  a 3  *7.5 22.5 hr  0.6 FTE  working pattern where  the FTE salary is  27273 is  16363

But the op seemed to be saying full time hours were 37, not 37.5

    Solved:
After a bit of tug and shove with HR they acknowledge they were only calculating my salary for 22.2 hours whilst I'm actually working 22.5 hours and now accepted my calculations
    27,273 / 37 * 22.5 = 16584 🙂
    New contract coming Monday 🙂
    Well spotted
    JGB1955 and many thanks 👍
