My job is an HCA at a hospital. I have been off work since April last year but hope to be going back soon. I have had an assessment and will be doing a 6 month temporary admin job. My hourly rate is £12.77 can they put my money down? Hope I’ve explained what I mean!

Not sure what you mean (sorry - I know you know what you mean!), but if they've confirmed your rate for this role will be £12.77, that's what you'll be paid.

If that's not what you meant, please could you expand a bit?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Do you mean that your rate as an HCA is £12.77 but you think the "rate for the job" for the admin job is less and can they pay you less than your substantive post would pay?

If the OP is unable to return to their previous role, but has accepted a new role, I would expect the pay rate to reflect that for the new role.  If that is lower paid than the previous role I don't see the OP can do much about it other than refuse the new job.

I don't think there are any bands left in the NHS that pay <£12.70ph so from a practical PoV they can't reduce your salary for the new job, unless you are also reducing your hours

you've not  explained much to be  honest

is this an NHS hospital ?  if so  what band and spine point are you on  - as 12.77  basic  isn't a 24/25 AfC spine point  ( 12.72 is for band 2 attracting Fringe London weighting )  https://www.nhsemployers.org/articles/pay-scales-202425

are you a permanent member of Staff ? if so how long have you worked for the organistion ( or  continuous NHS service  if  it's an NHS role)

is this  a redeployment  or a reasonable  adjustment as part of your recovery ?

what  does your union rep have ot say on the topic  ?

band 2  = 12.08  basic  which s legal  in terms of minimum wage legislation

band 3 increment 1 = 12.31basic  which , again, is legal in terms of the Minimumwage legisaltion

the 'real living wage' is 12.60 / hr  outside London and I know some NHS employers  have applied uplifts for band 2 and band 3 increment 1 to the RLW rate

I did get the hourly rate wrong it’s £12.07. I’ve been at the trust NHS 8 years this March. It’s just a temporary redeployment. Haven’t spoken to a union rep.

iIt's band 2   and as  there is currently no incremental progression in band 2   12.07/ 12.0 8basic  is the going rathe it;s also the bare minimum  that the NHS currently pay
