NHS dental charges

I went to the dentist on 13/11/24 he said I needed a clean an extraction and a filling. I went back on 4/12/24 and he did the clean and referred me to another clinic for the extraction (still waiting for appointment) He then said I needed to come back again for the filling. My latest appointment was today (22/1/25) where he did 2 large fillings. I was charged £26.80 on 13/11 for check up £46.70 on 4/12 for the clean and another £73.50 today for the 2 fillings do current bill stands at £147.00 When I queried she said that it was 2 separate consultations as the dentist had closed the first one. I was under the impression that all the treatments needed should only fall under band 2 which is £73.50 maximum.

You need to address your concerns, in writing, to the practice. 

Any treatment within 2 months of your treatment closing is covered by the one treatment charge, even if the dentist had closed down the treatment . However as the fillings were part of the original treatment plan they should not have closed the treatment plan down.

If everything is as you say then you should have just paid one band two treatment charge . 

Did you get a fp17dc estimate form to tell you the cost of treatment? It is a condition of any NHS band two or three treatment that you get a written estimate detailing what treatment you need and costs.

Write or email the practice they have to reply to your concerns within a reasonable time frame (normally 14 days).
