Can I get a mortgage whilst being on sick pay?

Just wondered, I have been searching around but will banks likely let me borrow if I am on sick pay? I am due to return back to work next month.

I agree. You may be due to return, but they will want to know that you have returned and can afford it.

If the OP means they have only received SSP then they are certainly unlikely to be approved for a mortgage.  However, if they have been on full pay from the employer although off sick, the mortgage company may not realise the situation.  Nonetheless, it would be a high risk strategy to take out a mortgage when off work.

Hello TELLITO1 thanks for your message.  I have been getting half pay since being off sick from my employer.  I therefore believe then approval will be tricky.
