Bankruptcy Process

Hello
I've recently discovered that I was made bankrupt ten years ago. I assumed this coincided with a house move as I never received any paperwork for it. I also learned that the bankruptcy has been listed as to not close as I didn’t engage so it didn’t automatically close after a year. Is there a process for it be annulled since it was so long ago and if not what would be the process now? Are they going to want to see every financial agreement etc from the last ten years? I have a number to call for the Leeds office but wanted some advice before I call.

You need to contact the Insolvency Service to find out what information they need to discharge you.
Annulment is a tricky process and you are going to need specialist legal help if you go that route, which will cost, but likely so will getting a discharge.
You need to know what numbers you are looking at1 -
I think annulment involves paying all the debts plus the Official Receivers fees, which can easily be a lot over £20k in full.
I suspect the discharge route will be a lot cheaper, but the only way to find out is to ask. If the numbers sound insane, take specialist advice.1 -

It’s only showing up on one credit report - TransUnion. I’ve always just looked at my Experian report. My bank has just started providing monthly credit report and it’s linked to TransUnion. That’s how I found it. Plus I’ve not got a great credit history so I didn’t know this was affecting it.0

You need to be aware that any assets you have now could be claimed in bankruptcy. What's your current asset position?1
