Help with instagram entries

I don't use instagram very often and I can't figure out why I can't share something to my stories to enter competitions? The option of adding it to a story just isn't there for me on computer or app. Can anyone please tell me what I need to do? TIA

I don't think it's a function on PC so you have to use the phone app. Here's what I do to get it: 

Click on the paper aeroplane beneath the picture

At the bottom of the bit that pops up there are options to share/copy link etc. Click 'add to story'

Click the white > at the side and another bit pops up at the bottom.

Make sure 'your story' is selected and click 'share' at the bottom

You might need a public account to share/for them to be able to see you've shared it but I'm not 100% on this
