had parcel delivered to post office just near my beauty lady, amazingly the delivery is now scheduled at the same time rather than originally quoted 4pm so that’s brilliant! Makes my day super efficient 👍😊

After I got home from my pampering session the bloody pump alarm went off, we are on a slope so we need a pump to get sewage back up to main sewer pipe. Lovely job .. had to unscrew bolts to the cover, then lift floats out of water, not breathing through nose at this point. Washed floats down with hose pipe then put floats back, at first nothing happened, alarm still going😢then I rinsed floats again and it worked, pump started to work and tank emptied thank goodness. Alarm silence, thank goodness.
Luckily our builder showed us it could be fixed simply so we always try that first before getting engineers in, would never buy a house with pump again for sure , it’s a pain goes off at 2am sometimes, we can just shut it off if that happens but we don’t want sewage overflow into garden 😬 so tend to act on it if it’s daylight as it was, usually hubby does it but i didn’t really want that to be the first job he had to do and it’s dark when he gets home so I had a go, also i think i should be able to cope without him so I just copied what he does and voila..success!
Now I’m going to sit and have a coffee feeling smug with everything I’ve achieved today.
Mind you I sent email to octopus and I have no clue if photos I took will be helpful 😬

Eek to pump. Do you not have a smart meter.

I’ve changed my timeline to a financially sensible 2027, as I just don’t want to pay that redemption fee. Even £400 is too much 🤣
Will overpay the 10% this May then wait until August 2027 to pay off mortgage.
Time flies by so quickly it will be here before I know it.
I think the bank has had enough of our £ so I think waiting is a better financial decision.
Trying to be sensible about it but the psychological pull to pay off mortgage is a strong one!
I really need to go back to full time work as then I will have something else to think about 😊
Picking up some more packing cubes today, my new obsession!!

The thing you can put in a drawer is just the display for the user. The actual meter should still be connected and beaming readings off to your supplier.
How much savings interest will you earn between May 2026 and August 2027, and how much mortgage interest will you pay in that time? A £400 charge is peanuts in the context of the overall cost of a mortgage
Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!1 -
Thanks for advice re smart meter, For some reason Octopus are being awkward as I use fuse for electricity but still export solar to octopus. Even though they have read meter in past they now want me to manually send them an export reading which I can’t find. They wont send me my credit of £200 until they have accurate reading.
If I find the smart meter device would that show me as my meter doesn’t show it outside?
Re: my savings, saver account is fixed at 4.1% until December this year and mortgage is fixed at 2.79%, so I earn more interest on £50k in savings(£170/mth interest compared to £110/mth mortgage interest.
presently my redemption is about £696 as I’m still within the 2 yr period of fixed rate ending. In August this goes down to the 1yr redemption penalty of 1%.
I have thought about paying it off despite redemption but actually it makes better financial sense to keep it at least until December and see what saver interest rates are at that point . The redemption may be less than £400 as I aim to pay another 5k off in May when new 10% allowance kicks in. While I’m earning more in interest I’ll keep mortgage as it’s a low cost loan presently. My mortgage fix rate ends in 2027 so I’ll pay it off then definitely as In sure I’ll never get another low rate like before.

come back home to find fuel prices are stupid! Luckily I don’t have much driving to do yet as ..
I still have no news of my job 🙄
so I’ve send hr an email and cc’d my line manager in so they know I’m being proactive.
Started daughters dressing room today, painted ceiling and one coat on walls.
IKEA furniture being delivered Friday so i need to get a couple more coats done and woodwork, tomorrow hopefully I’ll get the walls completed.
Been really good with diet and running and the weight is starting to slowly shift.
I am now on the last week of c25k , ran when I was away and really proud of continuing that on holiday.
Not aiming to spend much this week although I’ve got to get some more fruit as both me and hubby have upped our intake.
Just got to keep an eye on gum tree as it’s going into spam, messages that it 😛 selling a few bits but it’s a bit hit and miss and people just don’t want to pay much for things 😞 plus add the scammers and time wasters and it’s all a bit rubbish!
