Pay Advice

Options
Hi I have been employed in my current job for 2 years, I am and always have been part time but considered by my boss as mentor and coach for the two others that work the days I don't. The others, recruited in the last 6mths, are both on the same hourly rate as me which I was quite surprised and if I'm honest a bit miffed at, I should atleast have progression shouldn't I? It has occurred to me that there is no salary for the role just an hourly rate, could this be why? I would like to have a conversation with my manager about it but not if I've got no chance and will end up looking/feeling silly. I love my job and am very happy otherwise. Thanks in advance 👍

If you don't ask you won't get, and there is no reason to feel silly about asking the question.  It's not unreasonable to feel you should be paid more if you are mentoring/training other people.  The job being salaried or hourly paid make no difference to situation.

Thankyou for the reply, I am querying if my pay should naturally be higher than the new starts because of the time I have been there and the pay increases in that time? But has the hourly rate kept pace with those increases thus explaining why they are on the same as me and not some admin error when setting them up on payroll maybe, it is a v small company

The only legal requirement is that you are paid minimum wage. Anything else down to negotiation and how much they value you.
