I need help! I signed up for a gas course I could complete and home alongside work.
I was pushed into it by a pushy salesman who came round to my house and never said I couldn’t cancel in the long run
i phoned him the week after as I managed to secure a new job who are paying for my gas course
he said he would sort it and phone me back week after
never did
I realised this was outside the ‘two week cooling off period’
I cancelled my DD and they are now saying I owe them at least 12 months payments and it says it in the contract
The salesman never said this was the case and has quite clearly scammed me by saying he will call me back the week after so it’s over the 2 week period
can anyone shed any light or help me figure out what to do?

what does the contract say about cancelling?

This document is intended by you and us to be legally binding once signed by both of us. Therefore (a) it is
important that you carefully read and understand all of the terms and conditions below and overleaf; and (b) if
you do not wish to agree to any of them, or do not understand any of them, you should raise any such concern
with us, or ask us for an explanation before you agree to the terms of, and sign, this document.
The following words have the meanings set out next to them below:
Minimum Subscription Period means the 12 month minimum Subscription term.

It says I have a minimum to pay 12 months subscription no one ever told me that surely they have to tell you that

It is in the small print I’ve copied and pasted it but it’s tiny you have to zoom to read.

no I did not I asked the salesman and he said I could cancel if needed but if there were any exams booked in I would be liable for that which I understood…

I tried to cancel within the two week period but he fobbed me off and they are now saying there’s nothing they can do

What two week period are you talking about? Is that referred to elsewhere in the document?

I am interested in how a gas course can be done from home as the only work an unqualified person can do is while being directly overseen by a quilified one.

When you first sign up you have two weeks to cancel otherwise they make you pay the 12 months but the salesman who told me it was cancelled has obviously done me over
