I've been grey for several years now.  Decided I need to do something to make it look a bit brighter.  Can anyone recommend a shampoo for grey hair that will give it a bit of life?  Thanks.

Any of the purple shampoos or conditioners that you can buy in BootsI think Im using John Frieda atmMy problem is, I find they dry the scalp so I very rarely use themWhat I have found best to brighten my hair - I stopped using heat
I got a new hairdryer, I can dry and style my hair on cold within minutes and the difference is really noticeable, Even my hairdresser asked if I had put a toner through3 -
You could try Provoke Go Icy. Not expensive and the advice is only to use it say a couple of times a week. I have a multitude of purple shampoos in my bathroom and use them randomly. I do agree that they can be drying and make the scalp a bit itchy. I am fortunate that my grey is more silvery but the purple shampoo counteract any yellowing.1

A DIY solution can be to use a deposit-only dye (like Manic Panic), mix a tiny amount in with your regular shampoo or conditioner, and it'll have a similar effect. Whether you need blue or purple depends on what tones exactly you're wanting to neutralise - but there is where my knowledge ends, you'd have to look into it yourself if you wanted to consider that route.1

I also found purple shampoo too drying. Last year I switched to shampoo bars in an effort to be more eco friendly, a side benefit is I found the shampoo bars less drying to my scalp, though it is more expensive than regular shampoo, I can throw it in carryon bags while travelling, and I am finding it lasts much, much longer than liquid shampoo.
