  • Hi ,

this is a good steriliser and the bottles are good as well , help with the transition from breast to bottle (if your planning on breastfeeding) but bottles are nice for formula feeding as well , http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1039944&classificationid=1048137&slmRefer=000

cheap changing mat is all you need , they always bloody split along the seams

And this monitor , http://www.angelcaremonitor.co.uk/ , expensive but will sound an alarm should the baby stop breathing , so in my opinion it is worth every penny .
Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
    Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

If you have a local Freecycle then these items often come up on offer and you could get them for FREE!

go to http://www.freecycle.org and follow the links to your local group (or set one up it there isnt one!)

Some groups allow WANTED posts so you could request items as above and then gift them on when you are done with them (we had maternity wear offered here recently)
  • I am planning to breastfeed again. The steriliser is needed for baby bottles of expressed milk when we are out and about. I didn't know about Freecycle so I'm trying to get onto the site now. Thanks a lot for your help.

What area of the country are you in. I may have some things you could have for free.

  • Hi Rebecca, I am in Cambridgeshire. That would be really great if you are sure that you won't be needing your baby things anymore?

For cheap baby stuff we always use a local shop called classic kids, they sell new and second hand everything toys, cots, all the bits'n'bobs but i'm in bristol so that doesnt help you but i bet there is a shop like this near you.

found these on yell.com just looked for baby in cambridge

The Baby Stock Shop Ltd (within Rosie Maternity Hospital)

    or Babycare

    hope this helps

No I definitely won't be needing them anymore!!! MY DH has had snip so I'd be in a bit of bother if I did!!!

I know I definitely have a Winnie the Pooh baby bath and a baby changing mat. I think I still have a breast pump that I only used once if that's any use. Not sure what else but I will let you know as soon as I can get in the loft.

  • Thank you everyone. I am browsing the net for a steriliser and moniors. If you are out and about in the sales and come across anything interesting please let me know.

Rebecca thanks for being so kind. I didn't mean to intrude when I asked about the likelyhood of you needing your things again. Sorry.

I have a few relatives pregnant at the moment, always wingeing about not having enough money....yet I had 2 cots in perfect condition along with a load of clothes but nobody wanted them....in the end I left them out for the rag and bone man!!!! Crazy, I don't understand this "I must have new" attitude?....maybe I can see them wanting a new Pram,
My first 4 all used the same cot, (different mattress)which I think was 3rd hand when it came to me....thinking I was having no more I gave it away....only to end up having twins.....charity certainly was welcome then...:)

No offence taken. Never crossed my mind to be offended.
Hopefully I'll get chance to have a look through stuff tomorrow.

    Take care
