in Cutting tax
I tried to log in to do my self assessment a month or so ago, it's the first time I've had to personally file one since 2017. I couldn't log on, it told me that my last account was deleted. I tried to set up another account and apparently, it's linked to another account, an account I have no information on. I worked alongside my ex partner in a Ltd company, he dealt with finances and tax (he was financially abusive so I had very little control). I claimed universal credit when I left him but have stopped that and began working for myself as a cleaner. I need to file a personal tax return for the last year but I can't log on. I've done all the reset password ect, but it keeps asking for my UTR. I couldn't get hold of anyone when I last tried to do it so out of frustration, left it to one side. This morning I thought I'd try again. Still nothing. I have tried calling, to which a robot tells me that they can't help and hangs up regardless of how I word the answers it asks. I've tried talking to the online robot which sends me in circles. I keep requesting 'adviser' but it says no one is available to help with my query. I don't know what to do. I have no paperwork or emails with a UTR on apart from the old account that has been deleted. It won't let me create a new account because I'm linked to another - but I can't speak to anyone to get that reset or have a new one sent to me. I could literally scream with frustration!! I have a headache now and don't know what to do. What do I do??

From (distant) memory I believe that the only circumstances where one does not have the same UTR for life is upon bankruptcy. You are going to have to phone your reactivate your account with your UTR.Try at 8am sharp, one hour before most realise that they are open!1

I'll do that tomorrow then thank you.
No bankruptcy, I considered it a couple of years ago but never started the process. I am very confused as to what's happened too. Hopefully I manage to speak to someone in the morning..0 -
