Ah, I didn’t realise they’d now (half) automated this. @Molerat do I recall correctly that a post-2016 year buys slightly more pension than a pre-2016 year?
Now that you have pointed it out, I do believe that is their logic for the options they have presented to me.
My post-2016 years appear to be worth £6.32, while the pre-2016 years are £5.64. They haven't explicitly stated this anywhere on my page; I've had to work it out myself.
It would be so much more helpful if they simply allowed me to choose exactly which years I want to fill. I don't have the spare cash to fill every gap right now, so I'm going to have to ring them in order to only pay the pre-2016 years. That'll probably be at least half a day wasted, along with a DWP agent who could have been assisting someone else.

You can pay however many years you want to whenever you choose.  How are you paying ?  If you phone up to get a code that will be for the years you tell them you want to pay. I believe on line gives you the choice.  Don't forget that years increase in price from April, 20-21 from £795.60 and 21-22 from £800.80 to £923.00.
In my case, after phoning, the code doesn't work, not only did they get the years wrong they got the NI class wrong, i was paying for 5 years of class 2 but they took that money and put it into one year of class 3 by the looks of it? that total doesn't even add up to the exact year they accolated it to? Good job i phoned to find out why my NI record didn't make sense, my ref NO stated with 11 which i believe relates to class 2?
