Has the op actually done anything wrong here? It doesn't seem so. The fault appears to be with the lender; furthermore he's sent them an email.
By all means call them if you want op, but I don't see why it should be your job to jump through hoops when you're not at fault.0 -
If it were me, once I’d noticed that the payments were not being taken I would want to act fast to get the situation squared away and payments caught up/reinstated. I think the reasons some people are being a bit “prickly” about it is that it rather appeared that the OP was trying to take a view on whether he could get away without doing so.

Hey everyone,
UPDATE...
I have had my final response to the complaint and they have partially upheld my complaint. They have offered to remove any interest accrued during the time that the missed payments were made, and the reduce my overall debt from just over £2K to £986. I am happy with that as it seems fair and proportional.
What I am not happy about is that they are going to log it as an arrangement to pay, due to the reduction in the balance. Is this an appropriate use of an arrangement to pay marker? I plan on making the full contractual payment as soon as the new reduced balance kicks in, so why would this be an arrangement to pay??0 -
Is all the reduction to 986 removing interest that accrued while your payments were not being collected, or is there an additional reduction being made in compensation?0

Then you should reply that it is unreasonable to harm your credit record because of compensation they have given you. Say you will take this to the Financial Ombudsman if they dont change their mind.0
