State Pension First Payment

Hi, I reached SPA last week (27.12.24) I applied for my SP back in September following the invitation letter. I got a email confirming my application but have heard nothing since. Am I right in asumming SP will automatically be paid to my nominated account around 23rd January. Should/will I receive a statement prior confirming this ?

I am a few days after you (31st).  I received confirmation that I would receive the full s.p, and that the first payment, pro rata'd, would be on 21 Jan (exact payment date depends on NI number).  So I'd have thought you would have some confirmation..  That said, if they confirmed they'd received the application I would probably just wait until the end of Jan and watch your bank account.

mine started November, applied August and got a letter in october telling me how much I would get and when - so yes you should get a letter. Mine was delayed and I phoned them and think someone must have given it a push at that point - I also got an NI refund from a few years back so maybe that was delaying ?

I would phone and ask and say you haven't had a statement

Or would it now be DWP since the SPA has been reached?

The day of the week you receive your State Pension depends on the last two digits of your National Insurance number:
    • 00–19Monday
    • 20–39Tuesday
    • 40–59Wednesday
    • 60–79Thursday
    • 80–99Friday
Both my wife and I are both in payment now and we both had a letter well before the first payment had a letter stating when the first (partial) payment would be made, how much it would be and then subsequent full payments.

In my case I reached SPA on June 5th, first pro-rata payment was made on the 27th. In my wife's case, she reached SPA on September 24th and actually got a 1 day payment on that day.
