Affordable skin care for 12 Yr old

Hi, Happy new year to you all.

I am looking for some suggestions for affordable oil free moisturiser and Spf 30 non-comedogenic sunscreen pls. DD has normal skin and we want to keep things simple and affordable so some suggestions pls. It's bewildering out there and can't convince myself for spending £15+ for a 50ml bottle of something.. .

Thanks for reading my message..

For the sunscreen it's probably a question of trying a few out. Personally I find the Garnier factor 50 stuff in a tube to be best - the vitamin c is my preferred one, but they do a niacinamide variant which may be better for those approaching their teens. For most of the year I don't need a separate moisturiser - and my skin is extremely fussy in terms of needing non-comedogenic products.

The various La Roche Posay SPFs are also regularly recommended (and there's lots of oil free options) however I don't use them as unfortunately they all seem to have an ingredient / combination of ingredients which makes my eyes water, to the point I can't see anything!

Unfortunately, budget / cost wise, a good sunscreen is going to be around the £10 - £15+ for a relatively small tube, and to get the full effect, you need to apply a lot (which is why I'd go for a higher SPF to start)

For a moisturiser (if they need it with the sunscreen) you can go cheap. I'd try out some of the own brand ranges like the cucumber moisturiser from Boots, or Cerave moisturisers are good.

What are you doing in terms of cleansing? Hot cloth with a balm cleanser is often recommended (even to teens) but this method (personally) brings me out in nasty cystic type spots, so I cleanse with Micellar water, and a facial wash.
  • I have purchased twice from this British company in 2024, products are competitively priced and have lasted a long time. I will be purchasing from them again, ordering is simple and delivery was efficient.

You can do a skin type quiz on their site and they will make recommendations based on your answers. Also lots of useful information on there to demistify ingredients.
