Hello All,
I wonder if somebody might know the answer, or point me in the right direction to a possible answer, in regard to Voluntary NI contributions. I am not currently working.
I am going to pay one more year’s contribution because according to the online NI system I need to pay one more year’s voluntary contribution to receive the full state pension.
I will currently get £216 if I don’t pay any more contributions.
I will currently get £216 if I don’t pay any more contributions.
My state pension age is reached on 13thApril 2025.
How does this date effect the 25/26 tax year which starts on the 5th April?
Should I pay the 24/25 tax year or will paying the 25/26 tax year (assuming this is allowed) be a lot cheaper because it’s only about a week for me before I reach state pension age?
Sorry if a similar question has been asked before, I have not managed to find an answer.
Any help with this would be warmly received.
Regards
Keith

2025/26, the tax year in which you reach state pension age, cannot count towards your state pension entitlement. A week's contribution would only be a week not a year, which is 52 week's contributions, anyway.
