Bulk buying Oral B replacement toothbrush head?

Does this sort of thing deteriorate over time whether used or not? Cheapest deal I have found is 16 genuine heads. So that would last about 4 years. But would they still be ok over that time?

I bulk buy mine, never noticed a deterioration of the brushes which are always individually wrapped in the bigger package.

I usually end up with 12 at a time, so 3 years supply.

They would be OK over that time.

I would factor in the age of the toothbrush as well! Whilst I like and recommend Oral B electric toothbrushes to my patients - their newer iO range of toothbrushes I do think are better than the older range. However - they do use a different type of head!!

I don't think they have any plans to discontinue the older range yet - but if your brush motor is on the old side, might be better to plan for an upgrade to the iO type when it goes, rather than getting a replacement because you still have 2 years worth of heads in a drawer! So don't have too many 'in stock'.

EDIT - there are actually some pretty good deals on iO brushes on Amazon at the moment. A very decent brush available for just under £60

    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Mine is the I/O range which is the first electric toothbrush I have ever used. Though I do only get a week or so from its charge. Not sure if that is typical or not from using twice a day.

A tangential question, does the IO use the same charging base as the non IO Oral B electric brushes?

I'm considering swapping, but it might be a faff if I have to keep swapping the chargers as we have one that currently does both our non IO brushes (and a single shaver socket)
