The Cutting Down Alcohol challenge for October & 2025 :)

Fully understand your reasons for the wine and chocolate @redofromstart
Often wine didn't just mean the alcohol for me, it also meant the family sized bag of crisps or other snacks that went with it. Also I am convinced the wine was not only an alcohol addiction, but also a sugar addiction.
But the difference for me of cutting down drastically on the wine has meant I have lost 1 stone and 2 lbs in weight since mid November. That's without cutting down on food! And I've probably saved in the region of £500!!! (and more if you count the snacking that went with it).
The best rule for me has been to not drink at home, only when I go out socially. I don't have that much of a life so it restricts my drinking considerably
15/20 please.4 -
Good morning all. He's 20 plenty not. when your target for the month is. 28. But we're getting there. Some good comments from the threads above and a lot of them relevant to me. Really. I came up with a list of reasons why I wanted to stop drinking and I found it quite inspirational. Costs money. Does you know good. No nutritional value whatsoever. Empty calories and a lot! You wake up in the morning feeling worse than when you went to bed. And if people are drinking to avoid their problems, well, that's not going to help, is it? Because your problem will still be there. You'll be a few quid worse off and feel horrible. Oh and I refer to alcohol as "satan's bile". That puts me off as well!
The point about some kind of addiction is also true, I believe. I went through a phase of - don't laugh - Mint Penguins and chocolate ice cream. At least you can drive on it!! Currently 1393 days since I had a drink at home (as in not abroad) and no drink at all since March 20 in Oslo.
Cheers!Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!6 -

18/20 for me today please.
A busy afternoon of strenuous cleaning at my sister's house, so my shoulders are aching. She's unable to do it at the moment, and is a terrible hoarder! She needs a Stacy Solomon do-over, but that's not going to happen. She hoards things because it holds a memory, because it might come in useful someday, because it's too pretty to ditch (e.g. empty bottles), because because because. She's been like that since about 14, and we're in our 60s now. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?5 -
14/10 please for tonight Thursday. Getting there.

11/20 today please. Have been away with friends so no AFDs and not going to reach my target this month. However, whereas this would have been a good excuse to give up previously, I am going to try to accumulate as many more AFDs as I can.6
