18/30 for today please cathybird. Also, tomorrow marks two months to the day since I last had anything to drink. I’d like to see off the rest of June to make it another complete month.6

Ah yes, well spotted, that’s the 2nd edit I’ve had to make to that post, all because for some reason I was convinced today was the 19th (?).
You are also right about it getting easier, alcohol is very insidious and extremely effective at changing routines and behaviour so that drinking quickly becomes an established pattern and then just the norm (“It’s the weekend so of course I’ll have a few drinks…”, “That was a tough day at work, I deserve this bottle of [whatever]…”). It takes a lot of conscious effort to re-wire those parts of the brain and change easy patterns of association. Or at least, it does for me. That’s why I always try to pitch it to myself as a positive, I am careful to say to myself, “it’s been great to not drink these past few weeks”or, “I really enjoyed that AF weekend just gone”.I’m trying to change a whole long-established mindset by framing it as something to be enjoyed, if I start to think of it as a slog, a period of time that I’ve got to ‘get through’, something just to be endured, well, that’s the creeping persuasion of alcohol at work in real time.6 -
