Yep, been there. I have stood in the alcohol aisle in the supermarket more than once, thought about it for a while, picked up a bottle, put bottle in basket, walked towards tills, stopped, made myself turn around and put bottle back on shelf. Then stood there, numbly, for a further 5 minutes while I re-enacted the same tired old battles in my head.

Anyway I am still hoping for an AF May, have no plans to break it tonight, and am declaring on 10/31 thank you cathybird.

Battles, yes, but you won! "I did it yesterday, I can do it again!" and you can. Oh it can be done, I'm proof of that. I think my lowest point was - for a reason don't recall, the only money I had access to was some change. I remember standing in the 7-11 with about £4.60, calculating the highest number of units I could buy for my change - no matter what it was.  Now -  well, not had any alc' since March 20, 2024. And that was a one-off, now approaching 1500 days since a drink at home (i.e.not on hol's abroad).  Is it a battle now? No. So - rock on!

Speaking of which - strange venue for last night's gig, a "gastro-pub". I've never had to move a potted aspidistra to set up before! One very drunk character - I couldn't tell if he was dancing or trying to remain vertical. And sign on the toilet door "Only one person at a time"!  I play all the classy venues...
