Good morning as the New Year is on the horizon how many will you make ,break or keep ?
I don't think about what I want to do more of what I don't want to do IYSWIM
I want to be as healthy as possible and walk more, I don't want to be a couch potato and just veg out
I want to learn something different I've never done before (at my age a bit older than most on here its a bit limiting) I don't want to be just doing the same old thing week in week out
I want to keep in touch more with friends and family I don't want to suddenly get the phone call to say I can't as they perhaps have passed away (again at my age its pretty possible I lost four friends this year
)
I want to do more decluttering ,I don't want to have so much junk and stuff I don't need, minimalistic should be my goal
I want to stop making daft lists (another failing of mine
) as you can see
Anyone got more Don't wants than Do wants ???

I don't want to get to the end of the year and say "what did I do?" so I'm setting myself a monthly challenge. January is to learn some more about watercolours and pen and ink washes. February is for trying out different recipes from my cookbooks. March will be getting the garden going. April for getting out and photographing Springtime. I've not settled on the rest of the year yet.

Unfortunately, I can pretty well take my list for 2024 and just change the date on it. I didn't accomplish much of what I had down to do last year. I may have a "Have to" list - property taxes and medical issues, cat being fixed, and such instead and try and fit other things in as I can.6

I just want to have a good sort out and declutter.
I say that every year.Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

After all that has happened in the last year my only resolution is to live. To enjoy the small things and to get out into nature.
To walk down the road with a smile and to be kind to others no matter how they treat me.“HUMAN BEINGS MAKE LIFE SO INTERESTING. DO YOU KNOW, THAT IN A UNIVERSE SO FULL OF WONDERS, THEY HAVE MANAGED TO INVENT BOREDOM. (Death)” - Sir Terry Pratchett10 -
Having finally moved house this year to a beautiful island I have no wish to move again
Four of my grandsons stayed over Christmas and we all had discussions about what we hoped for in the New Year
The eldest of the boys hopes to find a nice lady to marry and settle down with, failing that he said he’d probably go fishing more 🤣
The next one down having passed his driving test is hoping to drive to Wales for a holiday with his young lady
The third has his three week holiday with his ex pals from uni to go to Thailand at Easter and they are going up country to explore life away from the big city ( he is a merchant banker and spends his working life in the City of London so want to get right away from cities
The youngest one is in his third year of a four year University degree so just existing on a grant is to him a result, mind you his girlfriend is a great cook so she helps streeetch his cash out for him 🤣🤣 all hardworking lads who enjoy life to the full but their goals for the coming year are all achievable bless them
Me, we’ll probably seeing them all healthy and happy with life will do me. I am happy where I am and I’m warm and looked after well by the family
The really nice thing this afternoon was going into the garden and spotting some gorgeous snowdrops that are blooming by the myrtle tree that I just noticed, plus some primroses growing up at the bottom of the garden.
Hopefully it won’t be long before spring arrives ( bit warmer here on the IoW ) and I’m looking forward to it. 🤣🤣🤣
We all have different ideas about the future, to me getting out of bed every day is a result 🤣🤣🤣
Happy New Year to everyone here 👍🤞🥰🍾

PS an Iphone that actually writes what you type would be nice instead of writing what it thinks you mean13 -
Last year I did the 24 for 24 challenge and, instead of setting any NY Resolutions, have joined 25 for 25. In 2020 I joined the 20 for 20 thread, repeated it 21 for 21, took a couple of years out but missed it so for 2024 rejoined - completed my 24 for 24 challenge yesterday and reflected on what had gone well, what I'd learnt about myself (I am naturally lazy 🤣) and where I'd like to be this time 2025 to set my 25 for 2025. So I guess my NYR is to complete my 25 for 25 by the end of the year. And then of course it'll be 26 for 26...
Happy New Year to everyone, and stay safe for those in an amber weather warning area in the UK.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

I used to have NY resolutions when I was younger (much younger) but they always fell by the wayside so I haven't bothered for many, many years.
This year though I do have a priority which is getting through a year of "firsts" without DH who passed away at the end of October. It was always a case of "when" rather than "if", so I count myself lucky to have had the opportunity to mentally prepare myself for the "when". Xmas has been ticked off and now NY. Some sadness yes, but also lots of happy memories of the 55 years we had together.
I'm now entering a "new" phase in life and will be looking at making that as fulfilling as it can be. I have a few ideas to explore, starting with a simple coffee morning at a local organisation. Staying healthy is another priority, though it's not got off to a good start as the dreaded winter lurgy has taken hold! I think it came from DS - he always did like to share!
I wish everyone all the best for 2025 and look forward to hearing updates on resolutions or goals or whatever you want to call them.Be kind to others and to yourself too.14 -
Weather in Edinburgh continues to be ugly even the fireworks and street party got cancelled!
It will be my third year going with a theme instead of resolutions, these just don't work for me. Last years theme was all about "investing in the future" and it included anything from getting rid of debt (Tilly Tidy helped so much!), building EF, upping pension contributions, and moving jobs for a very chunky pay rise. It required a lot of focus and sacrifices but I'm happy with the end result. Entering 2025 with a similarly ambitious theme, that will be all about EF part 2, and overpaying on the mortgage. Other than that I want to live a peaceful life outside of working hours (continues to be a challenge), spend time with family and friends, and eat healthy.Happy 2025! May it bring us the good health, happiness and more money!Mortgage: £173,700 Sep 22 £160,920 Apr 25

Sending condolences for your loss YorksLass. Bit strange to click 'like/thanks' on your comment, but sounds like you are in a better place now and I wish you strength and peace. And no colds! Wishing you all the best for 2025!
