Bus fare increases from 1 January 2025

First Bus website confirms the price increase from 1 January 2025.

This also affects weekly, monthly and other ticket types.

https://www.firstbus.co.uk/buy-tickets/ways-pay/fares

Tap on tap off fares will be calculated by mileage, under 6 miles £2.40 and over 6 miles £3, one way and overall capped to the cost of a weekly ticket.

I've purchased a monthly ticket at the old price and saved £8.20, which I'll probably spend on coffee and cake!

Sanders Coaches (North Norfolk plus services from Norwich to North Norfolk) new fare structure from Jan 1:
£2 for very short hops (a few stops)
£2.50 for longer journeys in North Norfolk (e.g. Sheringham to Cromer, Holt to Sheringham)
£3 for all other journeys (including the long distance runs like Holt to Norwich--the main 44/44A/X44/45 trunks, Fakenham to Sheringham/Cromer--9).

£2/£2.50 not much more than pre-£2 scheme fares (maybe $0.10/£0.20 more), £3 for the long trunk journeys remains a bargain as this used to be something like £6 one way (and is cheaper than the train except if you have a longer through ticket from London where the extra cost to get to Sheringham is typically only £1 more single especially on an Advance).

Norwich services are provided by First Bus (and are available in the Rail PlusBus scheme which Sanders does not offer), a few other services north/northwest of Norwich covered by e.g. Lynx (which I haven't researched).

    Stagecoach (in Hampshire--Basingstoke)
£3 for 5 stops 10 min ride.  Was £2.40 (ish) before the £2 fare came in.

Seems that all single tickets on Stagecoach are £3 for all areas (not easy to tell from Stagecoaches website)

This website has some more info https://hantsbus.blog/2024/12/fare-changes-2025/ which seems to indicate that Stagecoach does have cheaper singles for some journeys, but that's not my experience buying by contactless card on the bus (maybe not the right journey, in the countryside outside Basingstoke) or may need the app (can't be bothered for 1 single journey per week)
