I loathe tinned fish so can’t say whether the pilchard and cabbage spread would work- but I have started putting chopped shredded cabbage into sandwiches, inc Mr E’s salmon paste sandwiches, and it works fine. It has no cabbage taste at all- it’s more like thick watercress stems, peppery and crunchy and almost mustard-y in flavour!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
January (29): winter boots, green trainers, canvas swimming-shoes (15); t-shirt x2 (8); 3m cotton twill (6);
.
2025 second-hand acquisitions (no coupons): None thus far
.

I think it might be offal, or cabbage, egg and fish, in layers for a Russian pie, or whatever is available, @PollyWollyDoodle. I think by 1940 people would be bored of the limited choice of ingredients, and any effort to make them interesting would be welcome. White cabbage and tinned sardine sandwiches? Yummy! A bit of grated carrot? What a surprise! What! No rabbit?

Thanks @Nelliegrace for posting the Holidays at Home info.
It seemed familiar to me and I went back to The Wartime Farm series and found this on the cabbage and pilchard sandwiches in episode 8 (starts at 40 minutes in)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwBD9gRZLTE

I do like the Wartime Farm series, and the Wartime Kitchen and Garden series, @kiwisavings, I have the books too. I washed a load of vintage Irish table linens yesterday and got it in off the line just damp, so that it ironed beautifully. It is aired and ready put away.
I spent £16, with postage, on a bundle of linen hankies, some from the 1940s, in a linen bag yesterday. I am looking forward to examining them to see if there are any with CC41 marks for my collection.
(Later. No CC41 marks, but they have laundered beautifully; I saved the labels.)
I had let down the cuffs on my vintage duffle coat. I have at last bound the raw edge with a bit of the lining fabric, and given it a cold wash on the wool setting, giving the sleeves a gentle stretch so now they are long enough for my long arms. I found the exact shade of cotton thread leftover from something I sewed for Mum 50 years ago. It needs a fine hem turning up on the cuffs, and a loose button restitching, and a gentle press with the iron. The Fabreze smell is much reduced, it has been airing for weeks before I could cope with it. A make do and mend bargain for £30.82.

You will be relieved to know that a bra is 1.5 coupons, not 3, so you have 16.5 coupons left.
Fingers crossed you find what you need in Charity Shops, including the sandals.

Thanks for sharing your spends @Gem-gem and @MrsCD.
Perfect timing, since we’re about to start a new month and I thought I’d check how everyone is doing. So how is everyone managing their coupons? I’ve just purchased my long anticipated sports bra, so that brings my total to 31.5 spent with 34.5 remaining.
I’m coming to the conclusion that I need to clear some items from my wardrobe. There’s at least one suit I’ll never wear again, which I’ll donate to charity. (It’s a size 10-12 and hasn’t fit me for 25+years and didn’t fit when I was at my lowest weight last year.).
