A penny! It’s symbolic, like giving a coin in return for scissors so that they don’t cut the friendship.
I would get some pennies and clean them up with Brasso, wash in very hot soapy water, rinse in very hot clean water and polish dry immediately.
you could always look for that year’s pennies during the year,, simply look this year for ones with the King on them, or else seek out pennies from the year of birth of the person you’re giving the purse to.

@Gem-gem I'm with Laura, a 1 or 2p piece.  For a gift It would always be a shiny one.  My unused purses all have a penny in them - and the ones in use have a small piece of citrine in them too, as the saying goes, every little helps. 🤣Dx

A pack of 2 t-shirts and a pair of trousers purchased to report, so 14 coupons used.

First purchases of the year, I think I forgot to enroll at the start the year. Two longer tshirts to wear with leggings and in transit a new hooded sweat shirt all ready for caravanning to start. I really need to buy a new pair of jeans, or cs ones, I love NYDJ but they are silly money, existing 2 pairs both cs, but 1 pair won't button - unlikely too for a while tho". 5ft 4 and curvy!

GemGem, make sure that the recipients know that they must never ever spend the coin, otherwise they will lose their luck....

Any coin will do Gem Gem, it’s the intention not the value of the coin that works the magic. Not that we are overly superstitious in our house……

I found a pair of unworn corduroy trousers in the spare room wardrobe which now fit. I put it down to the limited sugar and sweet ration. Carrot sticks, anyone?
Some people would have decluttered, but I live in hope.
I wonder how many men returning home after the war found that their wardrobe was looking very bare as every bit of fabric had been repurposed, and every jumper unravelled to Make Do and Mend.

< cough > That's half my wardrobe.  < / cough >

(Although, luckily, now I get to wear almost everything.  My problem has reversed and I have to figure out how to make things smaller.)
