    Dudley BS

I'm getting the telephone number thing as well - 'mobile phone not available, please call customer services.'

I had that Friday afternoon, so I rang, and they asked if I had previously been a customer, I said I had been a few years ago, and they checked a few details, and then said they would remove my NI number from their system, and then I would be able to apply. I tried a few minutes later and account was opened, and was able to setup internet banking, but I could not use my previous username (it was unavailable)
I opted for initial payment by bank transfer, which didn't pass COP check till the following day.
  • Call me crazy but I’m holding off on the 5.5% or less accounts for the time being. Anyone else holding out in solidarity?

I know I will need to stoop down at some point but still have plenty at 6% plus and little funds in EA currently so all good for the time being.

I'm sort of speculatively opening Dudley Festive. Wouldn't have gone to the bother of posting off for it, but as it's available online and I happen to have £50 spare to meet the minimum balance...

It might morph into a future membership account at less than the £100 currently sitting in an ISA with them, allowing the latter to be transferred out. I figure the Loyalty RS, if it can't be renewed into another, might be less useful for that purpose given it was opened by post and came with a passbook.

Completely yes, and based entirely on financial choices/risk. I’m probably being stubborn for now and not wiling to accept the downward spiral to be honest.

That said, I do have the Dudley festive RS rattling round in the back of cranium which I will most likely just end up missing out on and regretting haha.

I've got a few 5.5%s and one (convenient) 5.25%. With Principality tightening up and large accounts like Monmouthshire maturing over the summer, I expect I'll be picking up more of the lower paying accounts in due course, but I am not opening them speculatively at this stage.

In my case the two Dudley festive RSs are ones I could well end up funding but their use is probably increased if they're opened a bit later, for branch/post accounts it's easy enough to do, request an application pack then send off the form in the post the day it goes NLA, for the online version I may end up refreshing the account.

I suspect I may end up pulling funds from NatWest/RBS though given their recent cuts, I've already reduced their balances down to £4675 each and given they're slipping to 5.25% and I'm currently struggling to fill 6% accounts the gap's now not insignificant. Raiding NatWest/RBS would certainly solve some issues with cashflow that's set to affect my accounts between now and the start of the next tax year. Plus I can always resume funding NatWest/RBS in the future if need be given they're open ended.

I'll see how things pan out over the next week or so though, a lot depends on what other accounts do next.

Yeah complete agree with the last sentence. How many will fall inline with the reductions, who will hold out opening and funding….

At the end of the day, 5.5% is much better than 3.75% in EA, but is it that attractive to not explore other options (e.g. investing)? I think it’s a tipping point, especially when factoring in inflation.

(I’m not wishing to open up discussion on investing at all and make no apologies for those who do not wish to see RS discussion within the discussion thread)

For me at least Monmouthshire BS shouldn't cause that much of an issue. I did have a lot of accounts beside MBS's Exclusive RSs maturing in August/September but in the case of many of them, I've refreshed the accounts where they're still available and on the cusp of not being funded to even out my maturities a bit, Manchester BS's Regular Saver Issue 1 being among them.

It's one of the reasons why I refreshed my two Skipton RSs a couple of months back, previously they matured close to when Loughborough's 1 Year Super Saver matures, now they mature in late October instead.

Even then I delayed the funding of the MBS Exclusive RSs to push the maturity date to the end of August so if needed I can fund some of August's regular savers at the last minute and use the bulk of the Monmouthshire BS maturing funds to feed September 2026's regular savers, though that's a long way off yet.

Has anyone managed to 'renew' in any way, shape or form this, please?
Just wondering whether anyone has successfully refreshed the Dudley Regular Saver...
