I think for many of us it’s a bit of a game. I actually enjoy the 1st of the month and moving money around…….and before anyone says, I know I can automate a lot of it but I don’t want to.
I also enjoy the 1st and manually moving money - However, the 1st Nov 2025 is a Saturday, that might delay things as not much point sending money to a Building Society at the weekend that won't process it until Monday the 3rd!
I don't enjoy it at all, that's why I pay all of mine, at the moment, by standing order. The Scottish BS Reg Saver will be the only one that will need to be a manual monthly transaction.
Will it? Do they not take standing orders? I too prefer them. couldnt trust myself to not mess up if I did manually and if I was ill or indisposed suddenly and couldn't do it the whole investement strategy would be thrown off.
They don't specifically mention standing orders. They do say bank transfer from your nominated account is ok. Not sure if that's an ok for standing orders. I associate the term bank transfer to mean faster payment. What do you think ?

I'd suggest that the actual method by which the transfer is initiated (manual FP or SO) would make no difference to the recipient institution/account. I've missed the bit of this thread when there was a suggestion that ScotBS might not accept deposits by SO - why was that?

    Re Scottish BS
Has everyone who applied via email received a response from them?
    Scottish BS RS

Yes; had to send my driving licence via email, only to be told afterwards that all was well and my account would be further processed WHEN they receive my opening deposit ... by mail. Groan. (Now off to find the chequebook in the dusty drawers of old...)
Though of course it does help people who don't have printers, but it does mainly negate the point of having an email application option. What this achieves in the era of COP, I don't know.

Same here, I'm more of a set and forget person.

But I'll add that I love to see that manual payments make people happy. I'm big on as long as you're not hurting anyone, people should do more of what makes them happy, whatever that is.

YBS Loyalty RS - I’m trying to work out best time to withdraw as it matures tomorrow (Saturday 4th). Interest has been added today. Just the weekend thing really and the best time to request the transfer if anyone has any thoughts?

Request it on Sunday. They never transfer on the day of request so no point requesting it today and risking the deduction of a day’s interest that sometimes happens, because you’d still end up receiving the funds at the weekend.

At around 4am, sent 3 payments manually to regular savers by FP from 1st Direct. Two to Principality and one to Virgin.

The two to Principality was credited within a few hours as expected. However, still waiting for the Virgin £250 to be credited 7 hrs later. Bank details 100% correct and passed CoP. First time I've tried sending from 1st Direct. Will go back to Santander next month.

    YBS
I closed mine yesterday morning and funds arrived to my bank account yesterday at around 5pm.  Previously my Friday withdrawal arrived on Saturday morning.

That was my understanding too, standing orders are just another type of Faster Payments these days.
But just to assure people I applied for the Scottish BS Regular Saver the other day and asked if a standing order would be possible and was told yes it would. Account no/sort code/ref should be in the welcome pack posted to me.
