Luckily I haven’t yet posted the cheque off. So I can add my address to the reverse of the cheque. Thanks0 -
Didn’t put address on the back of cheque - they’ll have to do that themselves. Should have made initial instructions clearer!
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.2 -

Yes; had to send my driving licence via email, only to be told afterwards that all was well and my account would be further processed WHEN they receive my opening deposit ... by mail. Groan. (Now off to find the chequebook in the dusty drawers of old...)
Last time I wrote out a cheque the stub was dated 2019
Thought I might apply as nothing came from Savings Week - don't use cheques anymore so had to hunt for the cheque book - found - it has a Griffin on the front and is from Midland Bank - still got same account - wonder if HSBC would process the payment - however just switched my Santander CA to Nationwide and asked for a cheque book.0 -
Will it? Do they not take standing orders? I too prefer them. couldnt trust myself to not mess up if I did manually and if I was ill or indisposed suddenly and couldn't do it the whole investement strategy would be thrown off.subjecttocontract said:
I don't enjoy it at all, that's why I pay all of mine, at the moment, by standing order. The Scottish BS Reg Saver will be the only one that will need to be a manual monthly transaction.mon3ysav3r said:
I also enjoy the 1st and manually moving money - However, the 1st Nov 2025 is a Saturday, that might delay things as not much point sending money to a Building Society at the weekend that won't process it until Monday the 3rd!jaypers said:I think for many of us it’s a bit of a game. I actually enjoy the 1st of the month and moving money around…….and before anyone says, I know I can automate a lot of it but I don’t want to.1 -
Oh, I recall my first bank account, a "Griffin Saver". Lots of lovely lovely tat came with it.saverkev said:

They didn't instruct me to do that, either. Just to make the cheque out in my name. It's too late for me to change it now, so will see what happens...

Is the maths good on closing an issue 3 and opening an issue 4 to extend the fixed-term rate?francoghezzi said:VIRGIN REG. SAVER EXCLUSIVE ISSUE 4
Virgin Money back with its 6.5% fixed £250 monthly till 30/10/2026It depends on your circumstances. If you'd only have £250 in the account by the end of this month, then worth it. Possibly also worth it if you have more RS than cash to fill them. Otherwise refreshing is a gamble on what the landscape will be like in a year's time.If you extrapolate with the situation where each month VM bring out a new issue at the same rate with a new fixed term, then over the year you'd just have £250-500 earning at that rate compared with an average of £1500 if you kept the original. So refreshing for a longer fixed-term rate doesn't work in the general case.0
