What happens if I miss a month not depositing the £10 minimum into my Market Harborough RS?
This is from Iss 1, but Iss 2 is the same  :)

Thank you!  And can the balance then be withdrawn without a problem?

    Market Harborough RS:-

Now that is an interesting question!

They are only currently advertising two EA accounts and one of them is an ISA. The other, Kickstarter, says it is Branch Opening only .... so are the T&C's appropriate for a converted account? I guess they say it gets converted to an "easy access" account so that would lead you to believe withdrawals would be unrestricted. I think only a message or call would be the safest way to find out.

    Scottish Building Society
    6.5% Regular Saver
    max £250 per month

    Rate applies from tomorrow 01/10/25

    Just noticed this on Moneyfacts
Available tomorrow branch or postal application by the looks of it
can then manage online and by phone

It's been years since Scottish BS offered a decent RS rate. Wonder if it's fixed?
Didn't even know there Was a Scottish building society!
It's the oldest building society in the world
Don't remember them having a RS account in the past. App form can be emailed to them to email address on website and app form
    Scottish
I'm looking at their application form https://www.scottishbs.co.uk/media/vlyd35ut/savings-application-form-1022v2-web.pdf

"Completed forms should be handed into one of our Relationship Centres or sent to us at Scottish Building Society, SBS House, 193 Dalry Road, Edinburgh, EH11 2EF" - no mention of e-mail option on the form.

    Also this:
"You will need to provide two separate forms of ID with your application to verify your name and address. Examples of acceptable ID are a valid UK or EU passport (signed), a valid UK photo card driving licence (full or provisional), recent bank statement or utility bill. Hand in your form along with your ID at your nearest Scottish Building Society Relationship Centre. Alternatively, you can post your completed form and ID to us at: Scottish Building Society, SBS House, 193 Dalry Road, EDINBURGH EH11 2EF We recommend using a recorded mail service if you send original ID documents to us. Photocopied ID must be certified."

If the above is true I will have to give it a miss.

  • Surely a bank statement and utility bill from a couple of months ago won't cause you any grief ?

    Scottish Building Society
I’d found a different savings Application Form which I’ve printed off in anticipation.
At the bottom it gives option to scan and email back with ID passport/driving licence scans
Hoping this is a method to apply
  • Well @ 6.5% I'll give it a try. It'll replace my regular saver with West Brom @ 6% which is due to mature soon and with whom I'm never likely to use again as they are now branch only.

No, but sending my passport or certifying it will.  Also I don't have a printer, which is another obstacle.  The cost can still justify it (providing the rate is fixed or stays competitive throughout the term), but the amount of time and effort required for this can't.
  • I wouldn't send my passport or driving licence either. Neither would I go to the trouble to get any ID certified, that's why I suggested the alternatives. I don't have a printer either but my local library does and at 20p a copy is cheaper than running my own. My application will be in the post tomorrow......I don't care how long it takes to open.

Needless to say, it would be unwise to email a scan of your passport or driving licence.

I don't think anyone has suggested doing that.
