Re matured Virgin RS, now everday saver, has anyone been successful in getting it closed?
Wrote to Virgin, and account closed with no problems at all. July's interest paid in my nominated account. New regular saver funded on 1st August
Did you write to them by online secure messaging?
I tried that and the reply i got was they cant do that and gave me a phone number to call!
There is a web form to fill out. If you completed it before the mad rush last Friday, then generally it was processed same day. It will take longer the later in the day you left it, as presumably they'll be processed manually in turn.
Think you were lucky, requested closure at 0500 on Friday morning before the rush and still waiting. Hopefully done overnight tonight.

Oh, I'm still in the queue as I was tardy. It was others reporting success beating the queue. In hindsight, the last day's interest would have been assured for anyone submitting the form at 5 pm Thursday assuming they don't have people processing them in the far east.

Anyone's Green Regular Savers and Regular Monthly Savers at Darlington state Easy Access Saver @ 2.50%?
I had the regular monthly saver with Darlington which has, as you say, converted to an easy access saver. I was speaking to them about something else and it came up in the conversation that this was going to happen. They said customers had been notified. I didn't question it as I assumed that I must have missed whatever they sent but sounds like maybe some of us didn't get the memo!

I was hanging on to it just in case it became competitive again on the way down but to be honest, I'm quite happy to have it off my RS list now.
No notification here either. Would suggest all forumites affected who were not properly notified contact Darlington BS. If it’s only like one or two of us it’s potentially a postal issue, but if it’s more wide spread perhaps they forgot to issue the notification to part of the mailing list or something.
My RS matures tomorrow. No notification received from Darlington either.

These are the VM's Current accounts I can see on their website, which one is the cheapest / no frills account which qualifies for the VM RS account, please?

M Plus, I believe. That's the conclusion I came to last year when I had to open a current account for the RS

    Hi.
not sure if I was seeing things, but I was able to open a second principality regular saver issue 3 but having just logged in for the first time in a while it seems to have changed to Regular Saver Bond Issue 36. Anyone else had this?
No - I have two issue 3 regular savers and they’re both showing on my account.

The Regular Saver Bond Issue 36 is a different product with a 4.85% interest rate and a maximum contribution of £250 per month for 12 months, did you definitely open an issue 3?

Re:  Monmouthshire Exclusive RS issue 2 ( the 4.9% one)

I thought this account had no withdrawals before maturity but I can see online that I have the option to withdraw or transfer to my other MBS accounts. Is this due to the interest rate recently dropping or was I mistaken in my assumption? Just assessing my options as mine still has six weeks to run and could do with freeing up some money to fund more competitive RS’s at the moment
I queried this with MONBS and was told it was not possible to close this RS. Mine was due to mature late August but I closed it online several months early. Expected amount of interest was credited to date of closure.

Have attempted to close mine online now, I sent MonBS the instruction over the weekend, now showing in the online portal as “processed” but still displaying with the full balance, and interest hasn’t been added yet.

I’m fairly sure I’m operating outside of the T&Cs but will report back whether they are currently allowing closure as I’m sure other forumites will have similarly uncompetitive accounts still some weeks from maturity
Mine was due at the end of August.  I closed it today online and the money arrived to my bank account at around 4pm.

Same here, money and accumulated interest received!

I only wanted to open one account and ended up with 2 now 3 :
    - M Plus (MP)
    - M Plus Saver  (MP S)
    - Regular Saver (RS)

I have funded my RS account.  Do i need to fund the other 2 accounts as well?  and can I close the MP S account?

I've had the Virgin Money M Plus Saver for at least a year now and have never funded it. It's still open.

You can close the current account and the regular saver will stay open. I used mine to switch out for a switching bonus. This resulted in the M Plus Saver also being closed, so I'm just left with the regular saver.

    VM.
No, you don't need to fund them any time soon.  At some point you will receive a letter warning you to make a transaction if you want to keep the accounts, £1 in and out does the job.  I think this happens after a year or two of inactivity.
