I don't think it will affect your RS. At the end of term you should be able to withdraw funds directly from RS to another bank. However, I would recommend replacing your switched current account, it might turn to be useful in future.checkly said:So applied for VM RS and been accepted, opened and funded. Problem is VM current account is due to switch to Barclays for the £175 bank bribe on 5th August. Anyone know what happens to a VM RS if you close/move the CA? Will they even notice?!1 -
I would never switch a main account, however in future I'd setup spare current accounts & 1 by 1 switch those accounts to gain from switch offers.
Setting up spare accounts is easy to do, did it with Nationwide several times.
I would make sure you setup another Virgin account asap though or cancel the switch until you have a spare account somewhere else.0 -
It seems they had various issues today, so deffo going down the complaints/compo route as stated earlier.Stargunner said:
I wasn’t referring to the app, I meant online banking from their websitejameseonline said:
I don't think you are getting what I've been saying, the phone lines are playing up, the app is down, fraud team can't even remove blocks etc on my account, Virgin are having major issues today, I've not got any hopes of them calling me back todayStargunner said:
Can you not just go onto online banking and empty it yourself. Much easier than having to call them.jameseonline said:
Basically been told they can't call back if I get cut off & they can't do f all at the moment because systems are playing up & to expect a call back when they can do things, I had plans today regardless of funding other savings accounts 😔jameseonline said:
Spoke to someone and even said to the guy I was on webchat earlier saying I would be transferring money from regular saver today and out of virgin.jameseonline said:I've triggered the Virgin Money anti fraud team, I'm on hold to them at the mo, I was almost done funding my other regular savings accounts too, meh, only had a Principality or 2 left to fund.
Hardly unusual behaviour to be honest I always move money at the start of the month to do this.
The only thing different is I've transferred out of the matured regular saver into my current account.
As soon as it seemed like I was getting anywhere I get cut off, the app now appears to be playing up, I'm now on my 2nd call, ARGH😤
These problems make me glad that I emptied mine early, because I wanted to use the money to fund other regular savers today.
Clearly more extreme etc compared to last year though, last year couldn't open regular on the day, today I can't even get fraud to remove a block, plus the app has been down, plus them hanging up on me, plus I had other plans to do things with MY money.
Might put in a complaint in regards to 1 woman asking how many savings accounts I planned to fund etc too, I said to her frankly it's none of your business how many accounts I want to fund and where, my money is my money0 -
I'm assuming that as you can pay in each calendar month, the VM Regular Saver Exclusive Issue 3 *should* allow a 13th payment, the last being on or after 1st August 2026:francoghezzi said:
It says in the Summary box: 'Depending when you open your account the fixed term may be longer than 12 months" but still no clear mention of a 13th paymentmasonic said:Anyone made sense of the following? If you open and fund on 1st August 2025 and pay in £250 on the 1st of every calendar month, then after 12 months (31st July 2025) you would have a balance of £3000, with no interest having been paid yet, or at maturity on 28th August you would have £3250+interest. Or is it actually a 12 month term?

To be on the safe side, you could just apply for another VM current account.1 -
You may have missed the posts which said all you need to say on the application form that you haven't got another VM RS - - which is the truth, as the previously existing one matured yesterday.jameseonline said:
Yet again I can't open this regular saver on the day it came out because of their issues, last year I did get compo out of that plus I think 4p so might try again when they are back up and running along with further compo for not having access to my money as planned for today😏.
You should even be able to fund the new account straight away as there are various ways of getting at your matured balance.

ASAP, just probably not right now 😁🤣(can you tell how annoyed I am with Virgin?)friolento said:checkly said:So applied for VM RS and been accepted, opened and funded. I can't even move my money with Virgin because of fraud team can't even sort it out so tbh it's pointless even trying to apply etc or doing anything with Virgin at the mo until they sort things out.friolento said:

Thing is banks etc are pushing online/mobile banking yet today is a great example of me having app it going down, add to the fact their systems are so bad I can't even get the fraud team to sort out the blocks on my account because they can't do anything themselves and them saying to me we'll call you when we can0 -
Virgin RS - some good news!
I sorted mine this morning but my wife was at work.
She's just used the app to transfer her balance, request closure of the RS then via the web link opened a new RS3 and funded it, all in under 5 minutes, no issues.0 -
Pretty poor show, really. I imagine that these problems will be compounded when Nationwide take the reinsjameseonline said:friolento said:
