I applied for the new Virgin online even though the emptied version was still showing as a regular saver but with a zero balance. I just said that I held no other RS. Application went through without a hitch but they 'need to go over it in more detail' and I'll hear in two working days. Why it wasn't automatic as others have found I've no idea.2

I don’t think you have to but you can.chris_the_bee said:
You have to empty the account first. Can move it all to easy access or withdraw all.friolento said:jaypers said:How do I close my Virgin RS? I’ve logged into online banking and the only closure form I can find says ‘Current Account’ closure. TIA.
That's the form you use, with the sort code and account number of your matured (or not yet matured) RS.That is what they say.
We recently received an online request to close your savings account, unfortunately we are unable to action this request at the moment due to the account having a credit balance. Please transfer all the money in your account to another account and resubmit the closure request online.
Kind Regards

Yes, some people have two regular savers 😃MoneyMan01 said:Why would someone choose that Virgin Money 6.5% RS over say the Co-Op 7% RS? Or is it a case people are opening both?

As do their spouses :-) And any joint accounts .....0 -
Spoke to someone and even said to the guy I was on webchat earlier saying I would be transferring money from regular saver today and out of virgin.jameseonline said:I've triggered the Virgin Money anti fraud team, I'm on hold to them at the mo, I was almost done funding my other regular savings accounts too, meh, only had a Principality or 2 left to fund.
Hardly unusual behaviour to be honest I always move money at the start of the month to do this.
The only thing different is I've transferred out of the matured regular saver into my current account.
As soon as it seemed like I was getting anywhere I get cut off, the app now appears to be playing up, I'm now on my 2nd call, ARGH😤0 -
Basically been told they can't call back if I get cut off & they can't do f all at the moment because systems are playing up & to expect a call back when they can do things, I had plans today regardless of funding other savings accounts 😔jameseonline said:

Thanks for the heads-up @chris_the_bee , I have now shifted the £1 I left in the RS this morning so balance is £0. It would save them a lot of work if they specified this requirement on the form!chris_the_bee said:friolento said:

I submitted the closure form this morning too. It said two working days to process but I am taking that timeline with a large pinch of salt given they are likely to have been inundated.0 -
I've emptied both my RSs this morning, but reading the posts now I remember when my ISA morphed the original rate stayed there for at least a couple of days after maturity. I should've made a note of it.where_are_we said:I seem to remember in the distant past a maturing Virgin Money savings account not converting to an EA account the next day after maturity and continuing to pay the maturing savings account interest until the belated conversion. If this is the case, and you don`t need the money (I have enough in EA accounts to cover the many RS SO`s going out today) it may be slightly advantageous to sit tight at a possible 10% until they actually convert. I won`t be going as far as flaneurs_lobster and adding in £250 today to the RS!1 -
Myself and OH applied online and new account details were immediate. Old 10%RS still intact with full balance. Only problem was Santander refused to do a FP £250 deposit for both of us( we were not able override it) despite account details etc being correct. Had to do a FP to a Virgin Current Account and then do an internal transfer to the new Virgin RS exclusive. Perhaps there will be a cop match after today. So was unable to do the £250 SO`s starting September 1 but that can wait. Worth remembering that 13 payments are possible and recommended due to the maturity date being August 28 2026.schiff said:I applied for the new Virgin online even though the emptied version was still showing as a regular saver but with a zero balance. Can you not just go onto online banking and empty it yourself. Much easier than having to call them.jameseonline said:

VM REG ISSUE 3
Just a heads up as I nearly got caught out. The sort code for this new account is slightly different to all my other VM accounts. Presumably due to the take over
EDIT - only seems to be the platform used for sort codes starting 822
