It may be that app applications overriding online ones was put in later, with early double applications resulting in two accounts being opened.allegro120 said:

Online applications are typically processed within 5 working days.Want to skip the wait? You can now open your account instantly using our new Monmouthshire Building Society App. Applying on the app will override your current online application.Like many, I had problems on Friday opening this account. I first applied online. Got no confirmation email. Then applied again, successfully, with the App.
It didn't override in my case. I applied online first, few hours later the app was fixed and I applied in the app. My app application was successful, funded, money is showing and backdated. Yesterday the second issue 8 has appeared and I funded it straight away. Today I received the letter asking me to send the signature form back, it also says that there will be no transactions until they receive my wet signature and indeed I've just received my £500 back. The second account is still open.1 -

It's belatedly dawned on me that the bonus 10% interest being paid on balances up to £1000 in the associated current account ended on 30 June. So I guess now many of us are in the process of closing our Virgin regular savers it's time to move most if not all of that £1000 elsewhere, if we haven't already.Oh geez, should have read the small(er) print; I didn't see anything about 'the bonus 10% interest being paid on balances up to £1000 in the associated current account' — drat.0 -
That was for their switching offer only, having the regular saver in of itself did not make you eligible for the 10% bonus rate on the current account.PowerSavingMode said:

I appreciated your joke clivep, even if no-one else did.😄judgingjudy said:
NBA in this context stands for "nominated bank account", which is the bank account which you've identified ("nominated") as the account you want to use with the account to make deposits/withdrawals.clivep said:masonic said:
Most likely for those of us who received that email (and didn't get an account opened for them in the first day or two) they'll be checking and dropping applications if people have already got an account set up.charlie12525 said:Want to skip the wait? You can now open your account instantly using our new Monmouthshire Building Society App. Applying on the app will override your current online application.Like many, I had problems on Friday opening this account. Decided to bite the bullet and apply by app... got to the end and got a message saying they "could not verify your nba details".Not sure what the National Basketball Association has to do with it?Gave up and will wait for the snail mail.
Nothing to do with basketball, although I do see where the confusion would come from if you're not familiar with the terminology.5 -
Monmouth RS
I too received the email from MBS today. Decided to give the app another go. Took at least 45 minutes for it to verify my details. RS account set up and test payment sent. Will check in the morning before sending full payment.0 -
Ah, thanks. Makes me feel better, that does. Didn't switch.Bridlington1 said:

.... and couldn't your last comment be applied to your original comment too?WillPS said:
I mean yeah, sure, but isn't that the case with all savings accounts of any sort!?Bobblehat said:
Only relevant if you have the money to put in there now!WillPS said:subjecttocontract said:Monmouth BS Reg Saver.........I'm in no rush. I don't care if they take 5 days or 50 days as they won't be getting any deposit money from me until they process my application. Seems like the disadvantage is all theirs.....
When the rate drops it'll drop for everyone on the same date(s). Every day missed is a day you won't get the headline rate, and will instead get a day at whatever rate exists in a year's time (not much if last year's Exclusive Regular Saver is anything to go by).

Which leaves me wondering what the point of the comment was? If you have the money to open early, you have the choice to do so or not. If you don't have the money to open early then it's Hobson's choice! I'm always open to being educated ... but might need it spelling out simply at times!Compiler of the RS League Table.

Yes I had that as well, even though my account is open and funded.Bobblehat said:Monmouthshire BS ..... Please use our App .... Pretty Please

I'll wait .....! (in the style of Little Britain)I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
Monthshire building society APP
Well,l was still waiting for the email off Mons from my application last Thurs/Fri.
When about 6pm tonight received a email of them telling me to get the all singing all dancing shiny new fangled app.and speed up my acceptance.
Took the bait and have now just spent 40 minutes trying to get the thing to work. Eventually, I got to the end, l think, and there is no record of me being a customer!
I'll wait for the postman.

Virgin RS transfer out via telephone banking
With a member of the telephone banking team I have just set up a new telephone banking payee on my current account, there is a limit of £5,000 in two transactions to transfer from the current account to an external account using telephone banking. Tomorrow, firstly I will transfer the RS balance to the CA and then I will make a call to telephone banking, then I will ask to transfer the amount to my external account and the colleague will connect me to 'the machine'. I will say my 4 digit security code not on speakerphone and then enter the payee item no. and the amount to transfer, in my case it is under £2,500 so only one transfer is needed. It should go by faster payment.
Note: telephone banking payees and online banking payees are held separately0
